How To Care For Your Rug

Should I use a rug pad?

Yes, to protect your investment, use a rug pad. A rug pad provides traction between the rug and floor to prevent slipping. It adds padding, keeps the rug smooth and flat, and prevents color transfer.

Will heavy furniture damage my rug?

It likely will. We suggest using rug protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening piles. Also, avoid keeping heavy potted plants in on location on your rug, over time it may leave a permimant indentation.

Will direct sunlight affect my rug?

Sadly it may. We suggest that you avoid placing your rug in a location with direct and continuous exposure to sunlight.

How do I store my rug?

Store your rug by rolling it front side out and wrapping in cloth for protection. Do not fold or store rug in an airtight plastic bag. Place in dry, well-ventilated area.

Can I vacuum my rug?

Yes, we actually recommend it. Vacuum your rug regularly on a low-power setting to prevent debris from settling into roots of the fibers. Use a vacuum cleaner without a beater brush as it may cause damage to the pile. For best results, vacuum from different directions, making several passes over the area.

How often should I rotate my rug?

Rotate or reposition your rug and/or rug pad every 3 months. This will aide in a more uniform floor surface patina and decrease the likelihood of the rug pad or exposed backing adhering to the floor surface where they are placed. Rotating your rug will promote even wear on the surface and extend the life of the rug.

Should I dry clean or stem my rug?

Do NOT steam or dry clean your one-of-a-kind investment. This method may do irreversable damage to your beautiful rug. We suggest having your cleaning professional wash your rug with a ph-balqnced shampoo and soft bristled brush, the traditional way, this is the traditional way to clean a wool rug and will keep it looking beauiful for years to come.

My rug is shedding, what do I do?

This is normal. The shedding of loose fibers will occur but will diminish over time. Expect the most shedding to occur within the first 3—6 months.

I have loose ends, what do I do?

Do not pull loose ends, no matter how easy or tempting it may seem. Simply clip them with scissors to remove.
